Monster on Campus

Started Monster on Campus sculpt for Monster Bash. Trying to keep the classic "camp" with some comic book style detail.

Swamp Thing

I started a new Swamp Thing. Thought it would be fun to make a bust instead of a mask.

How bout some fire Scarecrow

Made a Scarecrow for my dads garden. Hope it does the trick and keeps the animals away. Thinking about getting a spotlight for it, maybe solar powered so it doesn't have to be plugged in.

Sorry Been Busy

Haven't been posting much, been trying to finish some puppets for upcoming episodes of Wasted Footage. Also I'm editing ahead of myself so that way I don't fall behind on Episodes (hope I don't fall behind). Also I'm putting together more Necronomicons and Critters for my friend Kevins store ( www.houseofmysterioussecrets.com ), and its almost time for Jesse and me to start prepping for Monster Bash.

CORN DOGS

Ripley and Rascal love corn on the cob.

JELLYBEAN

This was the first real Tatarelli Bros Production. My brother Joe was I think 14 at the time I made this. The cast was really just him and Kyle Garzia. My dad and a couple friends filled in as puppeteers for various scenes, and the whole thing was shot in an 8 foot by 10 foot room that I kept changing. I built and did everything for this and it was a lot of fun to work on. I really wanted to make more shorts like this one, but life took over and my crappy delivery job and factory job ate up my time.

From the Files of Pork Squad

Heres a little sneak peek at what I'm working on now for future episodes of Wasted Footage. These two piggy's are part of an on going Dragnet type spoof. I got an idea for a double composite trick that will bring these two and there squad car to life. I'm sculpting the car now and I'll post some more pics when the molds are done. They aren't bad cops, these two take there cue from the fun loving police officers of 50's Sci Fi flicks. One classic police man I always liked was Earl Rowe as Lieutenant Dave from the 1958 classic The Blob. Not directly spoofing any characters, I just hope to capture the feeling of the easy going officers of yesteryear.

Wasted Footage Episode 2

Wasted Footage Episode 2 stuff

The top pic was a rough sketch of the inspiration for Episode 2. I showed Jordan this and he "got it", its exactly what we wanted for his bit. The bottom is the fake dope I made for the sketch. Up close it looks terrible but on film it works.

Freddy vs Johnny

Next to my computer is a Freddy mask I made 2 years ago? I think it was 2 years ago.....anyway I always wanted to make a Freddy mask. I think my sculpting style (if you agree that I have one) lends itself to Freddy. I loved digging in and creating all his grooves and melty looking detail. What happened was, there was a Nightmare on Elm Street theme at the one convention me and Jesse were gonna get a table at. So he got to work on building some New Nightmare gloves (which was Freddy's hand in New Nightmare), and  I decided I wanted to make a Freddy mask. Nightmare on Elm Street was never really "my" franchise though. I've watched em a hundred times each, love the series but Friday the 13th is "my" franchise of choice. So when choosing what Freddy to sculpt it was really a no brainer to me. I loved that little scene in Freddy vs Jason where he was full on demon Fred. So thats the one I went with.....was it a success? No, not really, people liked it but I never sold one. So now he stares me down everytime I hop online. Little side note, I like my sclupt more than my finished mask.....Just like with my drawings I love black and white, shadows and light are more interesting to me than color. ( thats why I have multiple sculpture shots instead of multiple mask shots)

Jesse and Me make monsters at Monster Bash

Creepy Classics invited the Reelmagik gang to do make up at the Monster Bash Con. Me and Jesse got to work together making classic monsters. The con was a ton of fun(even though me and Jesse only left the make up room a couple times the whole weekend). From the time we woke up until we went to bed we were prepping, making up the crew members, removing the make ups and then cleaning to prep for the next monster. It would be dream come true to get to do this for a living.

Bad Taste, BAD PAINTING

Against my better judgement I tried to do something different with this painting......it didn't work, good thing I took a pic with my phone before I ruined it. Look I sketched it out and everything.....maybe I shoulda learned to trace when I was kid. Never learned to color, never learned to trace, never learned to paint......batting a thousand Johnny. To look at my gut you would never guess that I'm a starving artist.

Shoulda learned to color

When I was a kid I hated coloring. The crayons smelled weird and I hated the scratchy paper wrapped around em. So instead of coloring I picked up a marker and started drawing. Rarely did I ever sketch stuff out (really I just started doing that at age 31, after watching Scott Neely do it it clicked......idiot, why did I wait so long). As a kid I just started drawing with whatever and left most things black and white. I think it shows in my work that I never had a firm grasp of color on the page (also most of my art teachers would agree I had no firm grasp of art at all.......maybe thats why I failed ever art class I took, really, all of em, ask Baxter, Ashbridge or Cipriano, they'll tell you.......remember my Ballsac the Jaws of Death sculpture from Gwar or our public service message S.U.K.- Support Unemployed Klowns). So on this one I said, damn you Johnny, you're gonna learn to color and thats all there is to it........then I lost faith again and stopped. Looking back, I like where I was going with it and maybe I shoulda finished it. Stupid art teachers.

Ah screw it, maybe I'll make puppets instead

Was just talking to Kyle a little while ago about how I'm starting to lose faith in my stuff. I got to a point where when I start making something I stop cause I look at the money I throw at a project and figure whats the point. As much as I love sculpting I know there are other artists who do a way better job and see returns on there effort. So like a lot of other projects, I abandoned this one. Another reason I said screw it was when I was at a convention and ran into Brian Dunn (another make up artist me and Jesse made friends with) and he just finished his version of Pumpkinhead. Even though mine was gonna be a bust, his mask was really cool. Oh well, maybe I'll dust this off one day and pick up where I left off, maybe next Halloween when I watch this movie again.

Johnny-The Weakener

Isaac called me and asked if I would be interested in doing a music video for him, of course I wanted to. Me and Isaac were childhood/teenage friends. This video was originally a short I was working on (it was only part finished and about as artsy fartsy as I was ever gonna get). It was about a loser that lost his only love and was almost killed trying to save her. Living with guilt "that he couldn't do more to save her", he got to work on an experiment. He was using dark matter to allow him to not only reach back through his memories, but also relive them. Yeah I know, junk right, at the end he becomes a vegetable cause he never went back at all (but in his brain he did.........and it had a happy ending......but you never saw it cause I never got an actress for any of the footage.) So Isaac needed a video and I cut him one using what I had........I'm not making excuses, I like this video, I had fun making it too. And its me as the main actor (gotta stay behind the scenes Johnny.) But anyway its been a lot of fun reading what people on YouTube have to say, thinking I'm a girl, wanting me to get raped, too funny man. But the most fun was blowing up that fake satallite dish on my porch roof (Jesse loves blowing stuff up), Jesse almost got shredded when one of the lights blew up, too much fun. Thanks for letting me put this footage to use Isaac, also thanks for thinking of me.

Law and Order SMU

Kevin Regan called me up and asked if I'd wanted to help on a Muppet/Law and Order skit he was putting together. It was a ton of fun working on this project. You can catch a glimpse of me and my fat gut (I played the crime scene photographer), once again proving my place is behind the scenes. My only gripe are my stupid choice's, the end is pretty dark (lighting) and that was my fault not Kevins.

Drawing with Scott and Jamar

Just found all these videos on YouTube. Scott Neely asked me and Jesse Melchior to shoot and direct some drawing segments for the childrens show Hal and Al. It was a lot of fun to do. Check out Jesse's bad ass animated intro's.
