Bad Taste, BAD PAINTING

Against my better judgement I tried to do something different with this painting......it didn't work, good thing I took a pic with my phone before I ruined it. Look I sketched it out and everything.....maybe I shoulda learned to trace when I was kid. Never learned to color, never learned to trace, never learned to paint......batting a thousand Johnny. To look at my gut you would never guess that I'm a starving artist.

Shoulda learned to color

When I was a kid I hated coloring. The crayons smelled weird and I hated the scratchy paper wrapped around em. So instead of coloring I picked up a marker and started drawing. Rarely did I ever sketch stuff out (really I just started doing that at age 31, after watching Scott Neely do it it clicked......idiot, why did I wait so long). As a kid I just started drawing with whatever and left most things black and white. I think it shows in my work that I never had a firm grasp of color on the page (also most of my art teachers would agree I had no firm grasp of art at all.......maybe thats why I failed ever art class I took, really, all of em, ask Baxter, Ashbridge or Cipriano, they'll tell you.......remember my Ballsac the Jaws of Death sculpture from Gwar or our public service message S.U.K.- Support Unemployed Klowns). So on this one I said, damn you Johnny, you're gonna learn to color and thats all there is to it........then I lost faith again and stopped. Looking back, I like where I was going with it and maybe I shoulda finished it. Stupid art teachers.

Ah screw it, maybe I'll make puppets instead

Was just talking to Kyle a little while ago about how I'm starting to lose faith in my stuff. I got to a point where when I start making something I stop cause I look at the money I throw at a project and figure whats the point. As much as I love sculpting I know there are other artists who do a way better job and see returns on there effort. So like a lot of other projects, I abandoned this one. Another reason I said screw it was when I was at a convention and ran into Brian Dunn (another make up artist me and Jesse made friends with) and he just finished his version of Pumpkinhead. Even though mine was gonna be a bust, his mask was really cool. Oh well, maybe I'll dust this off one day and pick up where I left off, maybe next Halloween when I watch this movie again.

Johnny-The Weakener

Isaac called me and asked if I would be interested in doing a music video for him, of course I wanted to. Me and Isaac were childhood/teenage friends. This video was originally a short I was working on (it was only part finished and about as artsy fartsy as I was ever gonna get). It was about a loser that lost his only love and was almost killed trying to save her. Living with guilt "that he couldn't do more to save her", he got to work on an experiment. He was using dark matter to allow him to not only reach back through his memories, but also relive them. Yeah I know, junk right, at the end he becomes a vegetable cause he never went back at all (but in his brain he did.........and it had a happy ending......but you never saw it cause I never got an actress for any of the footage.) So Isaac needed a video and I cut him one using what I had........I'm not making excuses, I like this video, I had fun making it too. And its me as the main actor (gotta stay behind the scenes Johnny.) But anyway its been a lot of fun reading what people on YouTube have to say, thinking I'm a girl, wanting me to get raped, too funny man. But the most fun was blowing up that fake satallite dish on my porch roof (Jesse loves blowing stuff up), Jesse almost got shredded when one of the lights blew up, too much fun. Thanks for letting me put this footage to use Isaac, also thanks for thinking of me.

Law and Order SMU

Kevin Regan called me up and asked if I'd wanted to help on a Muppet/Law and Order skit he was putting together. It was a ton of fun working on this project. You can catch a glimpse of me and my fat gut (I played the crime scene photographer), once again proving my place is behind the scenes. My only gripe are my stupid choice's, the end is pretty dark (lighting) and that was my fault not Kevins.

Drawing with Scott and Jamar

Just found all these videos on YouTube. Scott Neely asked me and Jesse Melchior to shoot and direct some drawing segments for the childrens show Hal and Al. It was a lot of fun to do. Check out Jesse's bad ass animated intro's.
